Within the Pro-Electoral Integrity project, jointly implemented by ECES and the African Union, transitional justice activities contribute to promoting democratic governance, reconciliation, and sustainable peace across Africa through dialogue, peer exchange, and African-led cooperation. By linking electoral integrity with broader peacebuilding and governance processes, the project creates spaces for institutions, experts, civil society, and regional actors to exchange experiences and good practices on addressing the legacy of conflict, electoral violence, and political transitions.

Since the launch of the project, several transitional justice-related events have been organised within the Pro-Electoral Integrity project, including high-level conferences, regional dialogues, expert roundtables, and multi-stakeholder consultations focused on reconciliation, democratic resilience, prevention of electoral violence, social cohesion, and inclusive political participation. These events have brought together Electoral Management Bodies (EMBs), transitional justice practitioners, academics, youth representatives, civil society organisations, and regional institutions from across Africa and Europe, reinforcing African ownership and peer learning approaches to democratic governance and conflict transformation. Through these exchanges, the Pro-Electoral Integrity project continues to support stronger institutions, peaceful political transitions, and sustainable democratic processes across the continent.
