Within the Pro-Electoral Integrity project, Regional Networks of Electoral Management Bodies (EMBs) play a central role in promoting continental cooperation, institutional dialogue, and the professionalisation of electoral governance across Africa. By bringing together EMBs at regional level, these networks facilitate the exchange of expertise, peer support, technical coordination, and the dissemination of good electoral practices adapted to regional contexts and shared democratic challenges.
Through the Pro-Electoral Integrity project, collaboration with regional EMB networks has strengthened synergies between continental and regional actors, contributing to greater coherence, sustainability, and African ownership of electoral processes and reforms. Since 2022, the project has continuously engaged with the main African regional electoral platforms, including the Association of African Electoral Authorities (AAEA), the Economic Community of West African States Network of Electoral Commissions (ECONEC), the Electoral Commissions Forum of Southern African Development Community (ECF-SADC), the Réseau des Organes de Gestion des Élections en Afrique Centrale (ROGEAC) - created in the framwork of the project, and the East African Community Electoral Commissions Forum (EAC-ECF). Together, they represent an essential pillar of the Pro-Electoral Integrity project’s efforts to reinforce credible, inclusive, and resilient democratic institutions across the continent through African-led cooperation and long-term institutional partnerships.
