Technical workshop ACDEG
On Monday, December 2, 2024, a technical workshop commenced to discuss the implementation of a program aimed at integrating the teaching of the African Charter on Democracy, Elections, and Governance (ACDEG) into Ivorian school curricula.
The event, organized by the African Union with support from the European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES) under the project “Pro-Electoral Integrity” and funding from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, marked a pivotal step towards embedding democratic principles in educational systems.
Bringing together 50 participants, including experts from various African countries and representatives from Côte d’Ivoire’s Ministry of Education, the workshop spans three days (December 2–4, 2024).
The agenda focuses on preparing for the pilot phase of the ACDEG project, a critical initiative designed to promote civic education and democratic values among Ivorian youth.
The opening ceremony featured a welcome address by Ms. Joséphine-Charlotte Mayuma Kala, Special Representative and Head of the African Union Liaison Office in Côte d’Ivoire. This was followed by a keynote speech delivered by a representative of the Minister of National Education and Literacy, highlighting the government’s commitment to the success of the ACDEG program in Côte d’Ivoire.
