Namibia Elections 2024
On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, General Elections were held in Namibia. Voters were called to choose the next President from over ten candidates, as well as to renew the members of the National Assembly.
Commissioners from Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Togo, Uganda and Zanzibar arrived in Namibia to join the Association of African Election Authorities (AAEA) Solidarity Mission, which took place from November 25 to 29 in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. The mission aimed to explore Namibia's political landscape and recent developments, as well as the legal and operational framework of the elections, in order to support the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN), Dr. Elsie T. Nghikembua.
Field support was offered by the European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES) and the African Union (AU) as part of the Pro-Electoral Integrity project, funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation focused on supporting credible and inclusive elections, promoting the prevention of electoral conflicts, and strengthening electoral integrity.
