AAEA Peer Learning Mission to Cameroon

From 10 to 14 October 2025, the Association of African Electoral Authorities (AAEA) with the support of ECES and the African Union conducted a Peer Learning Mission to Cameroon: The mission saw the participation of commissioners, CEOs and senior Staff form the electoral commissions of Burundi, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, Gabon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Chad, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius. The mission is aimed at the promotion of cooperation, knowledge exchange, and capacity building among African Electoral Management Bodies (EMBs).
The mission was supported by the European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES) through the Pro-Electoral Integrity Project, co-funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MOFA), and implemented in close collaboration with the Elections Commission Cameroon (ELECAM).
The delegation brought together senior representatives from various AAEA member institutions and technical experts from ECES. Hosted by ELECAM, under the leadership of Dr. Erik Essousse, participants engaged with national stakeholders and election practitioners.
The programme included thematic sessions and field visits, these exchanges provided a valuable platform for experience sharing. The mission also promoted dialogue on fostering regional collaboration and mutual learning between African electoral institutions. By facilitating direct engagement and peer-to-peer exchange, AAEA and ECES reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing electoral integrity, professionalism, and democratic governance across the continent.
